WILLIAM GRUBER

      William Oruber is a Program & Music Director at WAPS 91.3 PM in Akron, Ohio. He designs and implements daily on-air format, program schedule and station imaging. Mr. Gruber hosts a daily four hour Adult Alternative radio program scheduling 110 hours of Adult Alternative format music and imaging each week. He maintains correspondence with listening public in programming-related matters and provides light technical and production responsibilities as needed. Mr. Gruber oversee more than 25 locally-originated specialty radio programs weekly. Maintaining communications with over 50 music promoters to secure on-air music and fbndraislng related promotional inventory.
      His career highlights and accomplishments at WAPS Radio include implementing the first on-air fluid raising in station history in 1992. hi 1993, he negotiated a frequency reassignment project in cooperation with another local public radio affiliate. Since 1994, Mr. (Jruber has been pursuing, securing and helping maintain annual Corporation For Publió Broadcasting grant. In 1995, he converted all the station paperwork to computer-based process. Mr. Gruber oversaw design and installation of a National Public Radio satellite system downlink in 1995. He selected and implemented a software-based on-air music scheduling system in 1997, and began ihIly automated broadcasts Saturdays and holidays in 1998.
      From September 1985 to December 1986 he was the Morning News Producer and Audio Production Assistant at WKSU 89.7FM in Kent Ohio. From March 1985 to December 1986 he was a Studio and Field Production Assistant at Kent State Teleproductions/Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio. Mr. Gruber was a Program and Operations Director at the student- operated cable radio station WKSR at Kent State University. He graduated from Ke... State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts, Telecommunications, School & Speech Communication.
