Adrian "Bud" Cooper

      Born in 1904, Bud had his first connection with radio in 1918 when, as a high school freshman, he sent in “verification reports” on the first KDKA broadcasts conceded to be the first commercial radio broadcasts in the nation.
      In 1920, he ran copy for Western Union when the wire service was feeding Harding election returns to KDKA. In 1927, he went to KQV, Pittsburgh and served as announcer and publicity man. He later became its Program Director. Bud went to WFDF in Flint, Michigan, in 1932, where he worked as announcer, sales manager and handled the news, traffic, and publicity. In 1948, he moved to WBCK, Battle Creek .
      On July 26, 1950, he came to Akron and was Program Director of WAKR until 1956.
