Bruce R. Blake

      Bruce Blake was born in 1919. He was a graduate of Ohio University . He was first exposed to radio broadcasting by doing Public Service programs for the War Manpower Commission. He was employed by WHKK in Akron as staff announcer in 1946, handling music shows, quiz shows, remotes and news. He became Program Director at WHKK in 1951. He produced and directed “Tell-Me-A-Tale Theater”, which was judged Best Children’s Show in Northeast Ohio by Cain Park Children’s Television in 1952.
      Bruce left WHKK in 1954 and accepted the position as Radio and Television Coordinator for the B. F. Goodrich Company. In 1960, Blake entered the Akron Public School System as a foreign language teacher. He retired in 1982.
