Bill (Fields) Coffield

      Bill Coffield, the retired Director of Operations for Metro Traffic Control, worked for the traffic reporting service in Detroit and Orlando from 1985 until his retirement in 1988.
      He began his career in 1959 as an announcer at WLAF-AM in LaFollette, TN. After that he worked as an announcer and reporter at WOMP AM/FM in Bellaire, Ohio and also worked in that capacity at (primarily) Ohio stations until he joined WCOL AM/FM in Columbus. It was there that he began to concentrate on the activities of the State Capitol. His statehouse reports were heard not only on WCOL but also on three other Great Trails stations in Springfield and Dayton. Coffield continued as a Statehouse Reporter for four years at WBNS AM/FM (Columbus) and was then appointed News Director for the Ohio Broadcasting Company (a state-wide news network).
      Coffield was Co-Owner and News Director of VideOhio, a statewide free-lance television news service with seven affiliates.
      He was drawn back into radio as a newscaster on Florida’s Radio Network in Orlando in 2002. He is carried on about 50 stations throughout the state of Florida.
