Charles “Chic” Girt       The best announcer or newsbroadcaster in the world cannot be heard if there is not an engineer to back him or her up in the control booth and Charles “Chic” Girt was one of the best. Throughout his career, he was associated with four radio stations, including WHBC, WCMW and WGAR. In 1953, he joined the staff of WAKR where he remained until 1979.       Chic Girt was an active amateur radio operator (W8KYK). He died in 1986. His wife, Jane, resides in North Canton . Daughter, Pam, has begun a school of broadcasting at the University of Wyoming .
