Charlena Brown Charlena Brown is the wife of Reverend Elvin H. Brown, who was inducted into the Akron Radio Hall of Fame in 1984. In her own right, this most talented gal began her broadcasting career on station WCUE in 1960 where she became known as “The Lady With The Golden Voice.” She caresses the English language with crystal clarity and introduced to the profession a unique style of microphone technique.During her long career in both Akron radio and television, she helped and influenced many young people through her production of the Black Community Hour on WCUE. She produced and directed the first Black Gospel Program on WAKR-TV. Mrs. Brown organized the Youth Action Committee, which became nationally know and furthered the education of many young people. She is the mother of five daughters and two sons, the grandmother of 29 grandchildren. |
