Grammy Award-winning Polka Player Eddie Blazonczyk has produced and hosted a radio polka show for almost 30 years. He began his program in 1963 on WTAQ and remained there until the station was sold and the format was changed. In 1985, he took the Eddie Blazonczyk Polka Show to WVVX-FM. Since 1988 he has been heard on both WCEV and WPNA. He fills his program with polka music (Polish, Slovenian, German, Czech, etc.) and news of events in the polka world. In addition to his radio show, Blazonczyk and his Versatones travel throughout the United States to play their polka music. They have recorded 44 albums and have received over 100 awards for their recordings. In 1986, the Versatones received a Grammy for their Polka Celebration Album from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He was elected into the IPA Polka Music Hall of Fame in 1970. |
