Gene Davis had teenage dreams of being a track coach and pursued these dreams at Ohio State University . While there, he did some work on WOSU and started to become interested in radio as a career. The opening of WCUE gave him the opportunity of being its first sportscaster. His next stops were WGAV, Silver Springs , Maryland and WDOK, Cleveland , Ohio . In 1952, he returned to Akron at WARK as DJ on Request Matinee and Request Review. He left Akron for WONE, Dayton , Ohio and then went to WHB, Kansas City . In 1959, he became Program Director of KWK, St. Louis . He returned to Kansas City at KMBC, where he worked with a former WAKR colleague, Torey Southwick. In 1972, he became Director of Public Relations for the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Later, he was made the General Manager of the new KJMO in Jefferson City , Missouri . At the present time, he is with the Housing Authority of the City of Jefferson . |
