Marianne (Dunn) Conrad

      Marianne was born in 1919. She entered radio at nine years of age as a singer on “O’Neil’s Juvenile Hour” on station WADC.
      She willingly made guest appearances on WADC and WJW on fund-raising programs for the March of Dimes, the Christmas Appeals and the Red Feather Community Drives.
      She rose to stardom after joining Jack Teagarden’s Orchestra as vocalist in 1939. She sang for President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Charity Ball, and over the major networks with name bands, such as Ted Weems, Frankie Carle, Will Osborne, Herbie Fields and others.
      She recorded for RCA Victor, Varsity, National, Bluebird and Lang-Worth Transcriptions. Akron was so proud that she returned to Loew’s Theatre in 1943 with Will Osborne and the Andrew Sisters for a week’s engagement and was interviewed on WADC by Fred Bock and Bob Wilson.
      She and her husband, Bill, now reside in Garden Grove , California .
