Paul E. Gilmor

      North Canton resident Paul E. Gilmor’s contributions to the broadcasting field began in 1946 as a salesperson for WHBC in Canton, Ohio and ended in 1983 when he retired from the position of President and General Manager of that station. The years between were filled with service to the industry at the local, state and national level.
      In 1948, he left WHBC to join WFAH-FM (Alliance, Ohio) as sales manager but he returned in 1949 to assume a similar position. From 1961 through 1968, Gilmor was affiliated with the Ohio Broadcasting Company. He became the President in 1964. In 1968, he again returned to his first radio employer, WHBC, Inc. (predecessor to Beaverkettle Company) as President.
      For many of these same years, Gilmor was active in the Ohio Association of Broadcasters. He was a Board Member, Vice President and in 1970, President of the organization. From 1976 to 1983, this founding member of the Stark County Better Business Bureau was a member of the Board of Governors of the American Entertainment Radio Network. He was also Chair of ABC Radio Network’s Affiliates Joint Boards.
