Back in the days when radio stations carried dance band remotes, the alto saxophone of Bob Cole was heard on practically all the Akron stations starting with WFJC. Bob played for Mark Houser in 1948 on WADC. He played and wrote the arrangements for the George Sterney Orchestra which broadcast from the Terrace Room of the Mayflower Hotel. Later he was on programs from the Bronze Room of the Hotel Cleveland which were sent to the Mutual Network via WHK. Bob is retired from the Akron Public Schools where he was a band director for many years and he lives in Norton. |
