Robert Conrad

      Robert Conrad entered the broadcasting profession in 1947 at the age of 14 in his hometown of Kankakee, Illinois . Over the years, he worked at WDTM (Detroit), WFMT (Chicago) and WEAW AM/FM, (Evanston, Illinois).
     He and his now-retired partner, C.K. “Pat” Patrick (a 1992 inductee) established WCLV in 1962. In a short time, WCLV gained national attention as a successful classical music station and it is now considered to be the country’s premiere classical station.
     Conrad is also Producer and Commentator for the weekly Cleveland Orchestra broadcasts heard on over 500 stations in the United States and Canada . His “Weekend Radio”, a variety program of classical music and comedy is heard on over 150 stations from Florida to Guam.
     Under Conrad’s direction, WCLV has won two Gabriel Awards for Radio Stations from the National Catholic Broadcasters Association and a 1991 “Best Classical Music Format” medal from the New York International Radio Festival.
