"Bill" Gordon *
Popular
radio and television personality Bill “Smoochie” Gordon is a Memphis
native who originally worked at WHK (Cleveland). Gordon co-hosted such
memorable programs as the “One O’Clock Club” with Dorothy Fuldheim and
“Apartment 13” (WEWS, Cleveland) during the 1950’s and early 60’s.
He left Ohio for California in 1965.
During his career, Gordon has
interviewed a who’s-who of entertainers including Judy Garland, Danny
Kaye, Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby.
Gordon was one of the earliest
talk show hosts in the country. His relaxed approach, perfected while
working in San Francisco and San Diego, is still emulated by many announcers
even with the current proliferation of such shows.
Gordon is still active in the
broadcasting field today. |
